Coaches, Navigators, and Volunteers

What is the Elevate Program?

Elevate, NC State’s inclusive postsecondary education program (IPSE) administratively housed in the College of Education, offers students with intellectual and developmental disabilities the opportunity to experience college life, gain academic, social, and employment skills, and develop greater independence.

Why Work with Elevate?

  • Earn $15 to $18 per hour

Eligibility Requirements

  • Be a current undergraduate or graduate student
  • Demonstrate patience, understanding, and a willingness to support all learners
  • Commit to a flexible schedule, including weekly meetings and events

Positions We Hire

  • Student Success Navigators
    • Provide 5 to 15 hours per week of support
    • Provide individualized academic support in study sessions, Elevate program/inclusive Courses, and workshops 
    • Support Elevate students with independent living, social goal, and academic goal attainment including attending events/ activities and facilitating event/ activity registration
  • Academic Coaches
    • Provide 10 hours per week of support
    • Meet with approximately 5 Elevate students weekly to assist with course navigation, assignment planning, time management, and academic goal creation
    • Plan and implement academic workshops for Elevate students and student success navigators
    • Attend staff or consultant developed trainings to support Coach skill development
  • Social Engagement Coaches
    • Provide 10 hours per week of support
    • Plan workshops and facilitate inclusive social events on and off campus
    • Meet with approximately 5 Elevate students weekly to assist with scheduling, goal setting, and leisure skill instruction
    • Attend staff or consultant developed trainings to support Coach skill development
  • Independent Living Coaches
    • Live on or off campus with Elevate students
    • Support Independent Living Skill Development through workshop creation and targeted skill mentoring
